Vienna to Poprad: 405 km, about 5 h 45 min by coach (incl. 1 break). We drive Mercedes-Benz and Setra coaches for 49 to 53 passengers with WC and air conditioning, and send a binding quote within 24 hours.

Vienna is where many longer tours of Central Europe begin or end. Tour groups spend a few days among the palaces and coffee houses, congress delegates add a mountain programme after a conference, and in December groups often pair the Vienna Christmas markets with a winter stay in the High Tatras. We offer coach hire with a driver for whole groups, not a scheduled line with seats sold one by one, so the coach goes where and when your group needs.

Across Slovakia from west to east

Vienna sits close to the Slovak border, so the coach is soon past Bratislava and heading north-east along the Váh valley, through Trenčín and Žilina, then across the Liptov region into the Poprad basin. Austria and Slovakia are both in Schengen: no routine border control, but every passenger needs an ID card or passport. Tolls in both countries are paid electronically by the coach.

Breaks, timing and pick-up points

  • One mandatory break: after 4.5 hours of driving the driver stops for 45 minutes, usually at a service area roughly halfway.
  • Pick-up in Vienna: from a hotel, the city centre or a meeting point you choose; several hotels can be planned in.
  • Arrival time: leaving Vienna after breakfast puts the group in the Tatras by late afternoon, in time for dinner.
  • Return leg: include the date back in the same enquiry and both trips are quoted together.

One coach seats 49 to 53 passengers, larger groups get several coaches, and suitcases of up to 30 kg each go in the hold. The coach is based in Poprad and the quote includes driving to Vienna for the pick-up. If your group flies in, see Vienna Airport to Poprad and the guide Vienna Airport to the High Tatras. The calculator shows the approximate distance, route and travel time from your exact pick-up point.
