Vienna Airport to Zakopane: 385 km, about 6 h 15 min by coach (incl. 1 break). We drive Mercedes-Benz and Setra coaches for 49 to 53 passengers with WC and air conditioning, and send a binding quote within 24 hours.

Zakopane is best known as a destination from Kraków, but groups flying in from outside Europe often land in Vienna. Ski clubs, school winter courses and hiking groups then need a single transfer that goes straight to the mountains. The coach covers about 385 km in about 6 h 15 min, including one break.

Across Slovakia to the Tatras

From Schwechat the coach crosses into Slovakia almost straight away, heads north-east through the country towards the Tatras and then enters Poland for the final stretch to Zakopane. Austria, Slovakia and Poland are all in Schengen, so there are no routine border checks, but passengers must carry an ID card or passport. The coach pays all electronic tolls. Because the driving takes longer than 4.5 hours, the trip includes one 45-minute break, which most groups use for a hot meal.

Mountain arrival, kit and delays

The final part of the route is mountain road, so a morning or midday landing gives the calmest arrival, particularly in winter. Include the flight number in your enquiry and the pick-up follows any delay. Ski and snowboard bags, boot bags and suitcases of up to 30 kg per piece travel in the hold, so nothing has to be carried inside. With 49 to 53 seats, one coach takes a whole ski group and its equipment together.

The coach is based in Poprad, Slovakia, on the other side of the Tatras from Zakopane, and the quote includes driving to Vienna Airport for the pick-up. Our article Vienna Airport to the High Tatras describes the same journey towards the Slovak resorts.
