Poprad-Tatry Airport is a small airport with only a few scheduled flights, but when your flight or charter does land here, nowhere in the Tatras is far away. Štrbské Pleso is about 23 km from the terminal and the coach gets there in about 25 minutes. Our company is based in Poprad, so for us this is home ground rather than a long-distance job.
A short climb to the lake
From the airport the road leaves the Poprad basin and climbs gently westwards along the foot of the mountains to Štrbské Pleso, the highest of the Tatra resorts, set around its glacial lake. The views of the peaks start almost as soon as you leave the car park. In winter the last part of the road can be snowy, and drivers who work in the Tatras every season are used to it. There is no border and no long motorway section, only a short mountain drive.
Why a coach for such a short trip
For a large group, taxis or minibuses mean several vehicles, split luggage and people waiting for each other at the hotel. One coach carries up to 53 passengers with all their bags in one go, which matters most for ski groups with boots, skis and snowboards. Pieces of luggage can weigh up to 30 kg each.
