Košice Airport to Starý Smokovec coach transfer

Košice Airport is in eastern Slovakia, which means no border crossing at all on the way to the mountains. The drive to Starý Smokovec is about 134 km and takes about 2 h 25 min on the coach, without any mandatory break. For groups whose flights connect through Košice, it is the shortest of the larger-airport transfers into the High Tatras.

Through the Spiš region

Leaving Košice, the coach heads north-west through eastern Slovakia towards Prešov and then west into the Spiš region. This is one of the most historic stretches of road in the country. The ruins of Spiš Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stand on a hill visible from the road, and the walled town of Levoča, also on the UNESCO list, is a short detour away. Many groups add a stop at one of them on the arrival or departure day, which turns a plain transfer into the first sightseeing of the trip. Slovak motorway tolls are paid by the coach.

Arriving in Starý Smokovec

Starý Smokovec is the oldest of the Tatra resorts and the starting point of the Hrebienok funicular, which takes walkers up towards waterfalls and mountain huts. Hotels here are spread along the main road, so the coach can drop the group right at the entrance. If your flight is delayed, the coach waits once we have your flight number. The hold takes suitcases (maximum 30 kg each), ski bags and bikes.
